Cosmetic Dentistry
Cosmetic dentistry is a widely used term to describe a variety of ways to improve or in some cases totally change the appearance of the teeth and gums, while enhancing the function and look of the smile. The ways in which the teeth and gums are esthetically enhanced will vary greatly from one individual to another depending on what you are starting with and what the desired end result may be for each person.

With state-of-the-art materials, and tested, trusted dental techniques, cosmetic dentistry improves appearance and enhances self-esteem. Composite fillings have replaced traditional silver colored amalgams, while gold has given way to porcelain and other tooth colored materials. Other techniques like teeth whitening and veneers can improve the color and/or shape of your natural smile.

Dental Bonding

Prior to bonding application the tooth surface must be prepared to accept the bonding. This is accomplished by roughening the tooth surface and applying a gel to micro-etch the surface. A primer agent is then applied so the bond will adhere properly. Dental bonding is used for:
•  Repairing tooth decay damage
•  Improve tooth alignment
•  Fill gaps between teeth
•  Cosmetic reasons (improve tooth appearance)

Additionally, dental bonding is cost effective, looks natural and improves tooth shape. Cosmetic dentistry bonding ca require repair with time due to fracture or staining at the edges. For this reason some patients prefer more permanent solutions such as dental crowns, bridges, and porcelain veneers. All these options should be discussed with your dentist.

Porcelain Veneers

The materials used for veneers today have improved dramatically over the course of the last ten years for strength and appearance. The porcelain veneer process is one of the most popular processes in cosmetic dentistry today that involve the dentist creating room on just the front side of the front teeth to which a veneer (or jacket) is bonded to provide a much improved look that is undetectable when done properly. We at Craig Kubina, DDS work closely as a team with only the most skilled laboratories to assure patient satisfaction before any veneer is bonded into place.

Teeth Whitening
Blonde woman with blue glasses and eyesTeeth whitening, as the name implies, is a process for making your smile brighter and more attractive. Whitening (bleaching) will not change the shape or size of your teeth, but only the shade of your existing teeth. Dental restoration(s) will not bleach, and some individuals will bleach more effectively than others. We at Craig Kubina, DDS will be able to provide an assessment for the effectiveness of the treatment prior to the work being done. We employ different methods for the bleaching process and would love the opportunity to discuss which one would be right for you.
